There are many factors that condition and bear our way to see, understand and design our cities; policies, local regulations, climate factors, access to materials, infrastructure, technologies, culture, etc.
We live together with all these factors, we live immersed in them, and eventually they become burdens to act, to practice, to have a chance in the city-making.
But what if we transform the constraints into opportunities? Citizens are changing roles in this new global era, and this is for the best!
The workshop is going to explore and implement ways of doing in common:
How is decision making while doing together, how do we communicate our ideas to each other and share whilst “doing in common” and which ongoing formats do we use in order to fix and visualize what we learn? Can we implement systems that lead us to unexpected solutions and innovation?
Which are the tools and resources that we have nowadays to transfer what we know?

ABOUT THE TUTORS

Zuloark is a group of architects, designers, builders and thinkers operating within the fields of architecture, urbanism, design, pedagogies and research development. Our main activities revolve around city development (place making, urban planning and urban design), architecture and spaces (public building, housing and user experience), objects and furniture (furniture prêt à porter and exhibition design) and graphic design (web, illustration and video). ZK is materialised in every achieved project and it is redefined as it grows. ZK never equals ZK. It is meant to be a living structure thought and constructed as a critical object.

Since 2001, ZK has been awarded in different architectural competitions and collaborating with independent and well renowned architecture studies. “El Campo de Cebada” project was one of the finalist projects in the Urban Public Space European Awards, winner of a Golden Nica in Prixars Digital Communities Award and first prize in the XII Biennial of Spanish Architecture. Zuloark has also developed different platforms like ‘The Universal Declaration of Urban Rights’ and the Urbanleaks.org. ZK is also involved in designing and constructing furniture and urban installations projects such as Gran Vía/Gran Obra. Our Second Lives projects made for the Madrid 2010 White Night was a finalist project of the XI Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial.
